Home again, home again, jiggerty jig!
Back in beautiful Brisbane now. What a lovely time Bali was. I think what I enjoyed the most was sitting looking at the sea, sunbathing and swimming. Just to feel the freedom to do that, without always thinking about what "had" to be done, was very relaxing and refreshing for me. Thank you God! Bought some presents for people and a few little things for myself because the prices for things are SO, SO cheap. You can get DVD's there for AUD$1.20 or about CAD$1.00!!! So I bought about 15 DVD's!!! For myself I bought 'The Hours' and 'Passion of the Christ' and 'Girl with the Pearl Earring'. I also went dancing a couple of nights and the 2nd night I danced nonstop for about 1 1/2 hours! A record for me in recent times. Years ago I could do this, but recently I am tuckered out after about 2 songs! So was VERY pleased with myself!
It is only 8 days now until I fly out of this lovely city and return home to Toronto. The time here has been more than good. It's been revitalising and essential! I have grown so much in my understanding about myself, but perhaps more importantly, my understanding about God and his ways. Being a Christian and being gay has been a hard road for me, but God has been so faithful in walking beside me, especially when others have lashed out at me in anger or self-righteousness because of my stand. God has been helping me to accept what I need to accept, be open to change where I need to change, and to let go what I need to let go of. The process has been gentle but significant. Having supportive friends around me during this process has been essential, and it is really why I came to Brisbane in particular. So my heart is very full of thanks and love.
Returning to Toronto brings it's own challenges for me, but being back with Elliot, Damien and Jonathan....my three incredible sons....is a plus, plus, plus!!! And spending time with Rhonda will also be good. We have communicated so well over these initial months of separation. Her love for God, for the boys and for me too has been a wonderful thing during this transition stage. And I believe, as the old song goes, "things.....can only get better...."!
Once back, I have to find a place to stay (from early January) plus a job plus furniture! I already have a possibility for accommodation, so that is pretty cool. Just have to see it when I get back and see if I like it. It's downtown and the guys renting it out are friends of another Flight Centre friend of mine! What a small world we really do live in. The house is in Cabbagetown and sounds very nice. I will help clean the place should I move in, so that reduces my rent slightly, which will be helpful.
I'm getting ready for my 'goodbye party' this Saturday. About 20 people will be coming and a couple of friends and I are working on all the details. We're going to transform Irene's lounge room into a veritable vista of cloud, colour and beauty! Tee hee hee. It is a requirement to wear a mask or come in fancy dress, so it will be lots of fun to see what people turn up in. I have a Cirque de Soleil mask that I shall wear, as the request of a lovely friend, and I am making a mask for Irene.
In these last 8 days my diary is getting very full now with dates with friends to say goodbye and also some work with Flight Centre. Unfortunately I had a number of my work assignments cancelled, which financially had me scared. BUT...it is also a blessing because I get time to do the other things. I just have to keep holding onto God's ability to provide for me.

Have been wondering how many of you beautiful people are reading my blog. As it seems that you can't post comments here unless you are a blogspot member, I ask that you just send me an email and say "Yes...I'm reading it" then I'll know to keep this up. Thanks. stephenlovesflying@yahoo.ca
This week's quote:
(Well...a joke really. Slightly risque but I like it....especially having come from a Baptist church background myself!!!)
Why is it that Baptists don't have sex standing up?
Because it may lead to dancing!
Goodbye for now one and all. Catch you soon.

Hello daddy.
Just a question... I believe this post was your first mention of your being gay. Are you, coming out of the closet, so to speak? Cause there is a link to your blog from my site, so a good number of people could find it. If that was your intention, no worries, I just wanted to make sure you knew.
Can't wait to see you. Maija and I are probably going to pick you up from the airport, as I think your flight comes in in the afternoon.
Jonathan
I read it!
Glad to hear you enjoyed Bali. See you soon and enjoy your flight. maija
